"Feature Flags" with James Socol, Community Platforms Manager at Mozilla

Continuous Delivery sometimes requires new techniques and tools for integrating code often and deploying new features. Feature flags (aka config flags or feature toggles) are one common and powerful tool, but they require changing how you write and test code. James will talk about when and, more importantly, how to use feature flags, with examples and lessons from Mozilla web applications.

James Socol is a Python, JavaScript, and web developer and Mozilla's Community Platforms Manager. He can talk about deployment for days if you don't stop him. He's the author of Waffle, a feature-flipping tool for Django, and has helped multiple projects adopt continuous deployment pipelines.

It was a very nice presentation by James Socol on using feature flags or feature toggles. For more in depth discussion on the topic and how to use feature toggles without creating a big mess I would also recommend reading chapter "Feature Toggles in Practice" from "The ThoughtWorks Anthology, Volume 2: More Essays on Software Technology and Innovation".
