Contra dance is from 6:30 -9:30. Orientation/lesson at 6:10 p.m. in the Carrillo Ballroom.
Grrrreat times with Grrrrowling Old Geezers and Gorrrrrindo! They'rrrrrrrrrre baaaaaack! It doesn't get better than the Growling Old Geezers when it comes to old time Mountain music! Amber Roullard-Mueller, James Bolton and Jim Mueller help kick up the dust and lay down the licks to keep your boots stomping and your pulse racing. After a brief hiatus from contra, you'll be glad to get back to it with the Geezers and Jean Gorrindo! Jean has been traveling all over the US calling dances. We are fortunate that she calls the central coast her home and we get to dance to her on a regular basis. She and the Geezers work together often and have a great routine down. In fact, it was at the encouragement of the Geezers Jim and Amber Mueller that Jean picked up the mic in the first place, so we are doubly fortunate to have them together this Sunday. Plan to join us and bring your friends!
Sunday, June 22, 6:30-9:30 PM

100 E. Carrillo St.
The Caller is Jean Gorrindo & the band is the Growling Old Geezers.
You don't need to bring a partner because this is a social dance and everybody dances with everybody. You don't need to know how to Contra Dance. There is a lesson at 6:10pm and a walk-through by the Caller before each dance so you can just jump in. You will get friendly help all night.
Those who participate in contra dancing find a safe place to meet and socialize with other people, especially members of the opposite sex. It's a great social activity, a way to meet people, to socialize and have a good time with a group of people. Not just one or two....At a contra dance you meet lots of people in the course of an evening. Lots of good exercise too.
The band takes a break in the middle. At the end of each half, you can dance a waltz. And during the break, recorded music is played for East and West Coast swing dance, Country Dance, and more.
On Fifth Sundays our Zesty Dances are 6:30-10:00.
The best description I have heard is that with each dance we build a carousel, then jump on and ride it. Great fun for the brain and the body. Join us for great fun!
