Crepe Brunch

This event was so much fun last time, we are going to do it again!

 

I am going to make crepes, and you are going to bring your favorite crepe toppings! Then we can all gorge ourselves on a delicious brunch. This is not really a cooking competition per-say, but I am interested to see who has the most interesting/delicious ideas for crepe toppings.

 

If you have a crepe pan and a spatula, bring that too please. Lots of things go on crepes - savory works as well as sweet, feel free to get creative. If you'd rather bring a drink for the group (mimosas anyone? tea?) that works as well.

    I just read the comments section & realized that someone else is bringing strawberries for crepes (sorry Nicole) , so I may bring mixed fresh fruit with some strawberries so we don't get too strawberried out. I will also bring spatulas as well...

    I will be bringing my usual tea stuff, cognac marinated fresh strawberries w/whipped cream & if I have time, sauteed greens suitable for vegans, vegetarians & gluten free. I will also bring a crepe pan or two. Mary, do you need anything else?

    So what are ppl thinking for fillings? I'm leaning toward sauteed mushrooms and caramelized shallots with gorgonzola. I will also bring some gluten-free crepes I'll pre-make, but honestly don't know if I will have enough to share, unless anyone *has to* eat gluten-free, as I do. ;0) Here's some inspiration from online sources: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/777860

    I think I'm a little confused. Someone mentioned they are making crepes, but the intro says we are bringing toppings? I just want to make sure I understand since this is my first meetup. Thank you! :)

      Hi Nicole, welcome to the group. Mary is making the crepes themselves (the actual "pancake" without the fillings) and, yes, the participants bring the sweet or savory fillings and toppings to *fill* and top the crepes. That way every one is contributing and everyone gets to try a variety of fillings (cheeses, fruit, Nutella, whipped cream, etc.) Make sense?

    So glad I can attend this one! I will make some buckwheat crepes in case anyone wants to or needs to go gluten-free, as I won't be able to eat the ones Mary's making.
