Sauce and Wine!

Another teaching and learning experience, Sauce and Wine! Two cornerstones of cooking. Yum!

Anything goes, but the sauce must be prominent. Oooo... the options are incredible! Savory or sweet, thick or thin, smooth or chunky? Spicy or delicate? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Dessert? Pasta, protein, veggies?

And the wine pairing opportunities. My, oh, my... decadence!

Let's keep pairing up. With only 16 folks, 8 dishes and 8 bottles of wine seem just about right. A week before, or when we hit 16, I'll do the people paring and you can work out what you'll bring.

Be prepared to talk a bit about what you brought. That's the learning part ;-)

Like the other events in this series, this one takes some coordination and prep work. Please do not RSVP and then cancel at the last minute :-) If you aren't really sure you can make it, please leave the spot open for someone else. We'll do more!

Cheers! -Bryan

lots of food and wine. sauce did not seem to be the focus of some of the dishes, BUT all the food was YUMMY. Some better than others but all tasty with options for all pallets!

Thanks for opening up Chez Bryan again and thanks to all for the wonderful food and company! The impromptu, end of the evening mixology lessons were great fun, too. I will be buying a bottle of St. Germaine tonight (Ooooh, that was delish). I've been on the hunt for a schwanky bar cart and once I find one I now know who to ask about stocking it! ;0)

We are still finishing out food! We've had to alter some things so it's taken us longer. But we will be there. Hopefully by 6:30! Sorry!

I'm nursing a nasty cold, unfortunately. Wouldn't want to expose you all. Hope you have a great gathering, and see you next time.

Megan, would you want to make sauce? I am happy to bring a bottle of wine. But, if you want me to make it, I am thinking about Vodka rose sauce (with pasta of course), with which medium body red wine goes. Let me know. Thank you.

Hi ST, I decided after speaking with Mary that the best option of my sauces to try and diversify a bit would be a citrus yogurt sauce on creepes. Id suggest a Riesling, zin, or maybe even a savingon blanc. Also a prosecco would be nice if you wanted to incorp something bubbly. Ill leave that part up to you :) See you sunday!

Sounds good. Thinking about a Muscat. Veneto in Italy has good ones, but since crepe is French maybe french one. Or Riesling instead. Will see.

I would prefer to bring a wine this time because I will be attending Teatro Zinzanni matinee and may not have time to prep a sauce

I'm in. I can make a dinner meet and potato pasty with a wine sauce.

Bryan, I like your mention of a breakfast dish with sauce...b/c the implication is wine goes with breakfast! :0)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
