Cook & DuPage County Trail Blazers Pages

Our hiking group enjoys walking and hiking in Cook and DuPage County. We schedule hikes that are within 60 miles from Chicago. Dogs and children are welcome on our hikes. Some forest preserves do not allow dogs, like The Morton Arboretum. Most other forest preserves allow dogs.

During the winter months, December through February our hikes will be scheduled on a monthly basis due to the winter's unpredictable weather. We will resume 2-3 hikes a month starting in March. We will keep hikes short during the colder weather so everyone can stay comfortable.

When there is a scheduled hike, it will not be cancelled even if we have inclement weather, so please dress for the weather conditions. It is your personal decision if you do not chose to hike due to weather conditions, but please change your rsvp so the group is not waiting for you.

If you need to cancel at the last moment, please just send a message on our meet up site. I understand that sometimes unforeseen incidents arise that we must change our original plans on very short notice. Let's say you decide to join our group for a hike at the last moment, please attend and I will add you to our attendance list later.

Please try to arrive a few minutes before we are scheduled to start our hikes out of consideration for other hikers in the group. We will wait 10 minutes so if anyone is caught in traffic they can still hike with the group. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the scheduled starting time for a hike, please text me so we can wait for you further down the trail so you can catch up with us. My cell phone number will be listed in the information for each hike.

Dues to maintain this meet up group on is $184.00 a year, so I ask everyone to donate twice a year towards these dues if you can financially help the group. I gladly accept any donations in cash.

I gladly accept and encourage all suggestions for future hikes. Also if any member would like to organize a hike for the group; please feel free to add the details along with date, time and exact location to the group's site.

Until we meet on the trails, enjoy nature every chance you can. See you soon. Lynn and Jim P.
