Elk? In Chicago? It’s hard to believe, but this fenced pasture in Elk Grove, Illinois, lets you get up close and personal with one of the largest mammals on Earth. After strolling through patches of cheerful flowers on this popular, well-maintained bicycle path, you’ll likely be rewarded with the sight of a dozen elk grazing in the shade near the pasture’s fence. If they’re hiding when you arrive, you can always explore the rest of Busse Woods and check back later.
