Willowbrook Forest Preserve and a visit to Willowbrook Wild Life Center

Willowbrook Forest Preserve has woodlands that are interspersed with prairie and wetlands, and bisected by Glen Crest Creek. The preserve serves as a resource for understanding the natural world and provides learning experiences at the Willowbrook Wildlife Center. The Center educates DuPage County residents to live in harmony with diverse, healthy wildlife populations. In addition to being an education center, Willowbrook is also a wildlife rehabilitation facility.

ALERT: Construction will begin Oct. 16, 2013 and as a result the existing parking lot will be closed until the middle of January 2014. Alternate parking is available across Park Boulevard at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church.
We will meet in the parking lot of the church and start our short hike at 10am.

Length of Hike is only 1 mile and it is an easy hike.
We will also visit the Willowbrook Wildlife Rehabilitation Center after our short hike.
This hike due to length and location would be great for kids.

I'm sorry we did not get to hike but I loved the introduction to all the rehab pets & friends of yours and the staff.

Yeah, the gate was locked, but things happen. Enjoyed the information about the residents.

I'm sorry since I was really looking forward to this. I had a sinus headache that turned into a migraine and the excedrin migraine is killing my stomach. Maybe when the weather stabilizes because I seem to always have these problems this time of year

I have not recovered from my back injury and will have to pass on this outing. I hope to make it next time!

Julia, please take your time to totally heal from your back injury. You don't need to slip on any ice and wrench your back. There will be plenty of hikes coming up and increasing frequency as the weather warms up. Until we meet on the trail again enjoy the scenic winter around us.
