Hidden Lake Forest Preserve

Directions: Take Route #56 [Butterfield Road] and turn onto Route #53 [ this is a stop light intersection].  The parking lot will come up on the left side of the road. The hiking group will meet near the information site.

Two lakes and the East Branch of the DuPage River make the 393-acre Hidden Lake Forest Preserve in Downers Grove an ideal place to fish, hike or just relax. The preserve is one of the few places in the county where visitors can hear spring peepers in the wooded ponds. It’s also home to King’s Grove, a remnant woodland of red, white, and bur oaks.
Over 2 miles of limestone trails wind through the preserve, making it a great destination for hikers, joggers, birders and other wildlife watchers.
Dogs are welcome at Hidden Lake but must be on leashes no greater than 10 feet in length.
Length of trail: 2 miles
Difficulty of hike: Easy
This hike will take about 1 hour to 1 & 1/2 hours to hike pending the pace the group sets. Please dress for the weather and bring snacks or at least a drink to stay hydrated.

Please check in with organizer for attendance.

If you are running late, please call my cell phone at[masked] so we know you are still coming to the hike. If you decide at the last moment to join the hike, please come and I can add you to the attendance after the hike.

Family must always be our top priority so we'll look forward to seeing you at the next hike you can make. Hope everything works out and the problem was easily resolved.

It is mid November so the temp is suppose to only be in the 30's so please dress for the weather tomorrow. You will find that you will warm up some as we hike but you will still feel the chill if you stop walking. I look forward to seeing you on the trail tomorrow.

We look forward to seeing you and your dog George. If you browse the photos from our hikes on many hikes we have our friendly "mascots" leading the pack.

I'm sorry but I saw my dr today, and she said I should not do any outside walking or hiking until the weather stabilizes, which I guess means when there are a few inches of snow on the ground and the temperature doesn't get much above freezing. Otherwise, I guess this sinus infection will not really go away. Have fund, you guys! Hope to be able to pick up when it is colder. Until then, she told me to do mall walking. I shall see how that works!

That's what I did. Apparently the first one wasn't entirely gone. I can't imagine how your husband feels. It's great that you take such good care of him, even with your own stuff going on!

Haven't been to either Yorktown or Oak Brook for quite a while, but I can remember when Oak Brook opened. Also while Yorktown was being built, what a mess driving was on 2 lane Butterfield. Hope to see you and the rest of the group really soon!

I'm hoping I can but I know I need to work some hours and don't know my hours right now.

One must keep their priorities straight - family, financial security, then friends and recreation. So if the time of the hike fits your schedule we look forward to hitting the trail with you on Saturday.

Wear sturdy-soled shoes (when I walked there I was wearing mooth-soled shoes + felt every rock on the trail). Enjoyed it, but regretted my poor shoe choice. FYI.
