Old Port Lobster (& Rib) Shack Strip Mall Meal + Mini-Golf Mayhem @ Malibu Castle



Old Port Lobster Shack is a small place with a quasi-nautical theme, a riot of kitsch and a menu of great BBQ & seafood choices from kinda cheap ($7+) to loads of lob$$ter all served in plastic, brightly-colored baskets on red & white checkered tablecloths. Some of their craft beers on tap are ones you won't see at other places, so it'll be a taste exploration for sure!
OPL's menu is in sections and features "chowdahs," "shacketizers," "rolls" (a.k.a. smaller sandwiches), lobster (duh), cool salads, beer-battered stuff and desserts.


NOTE: I've been saving this one for late daylight, so June it is! June is a jacked-up month for me every year so I can't do "first Friday, third Wednesday" and have to schedule this one for Saturday the 6th.

And speaking of kitsch, miniature golf is one of the ultimate divey passtimes, but for some reason the folks at Malibu Castle in Redwood City have managed to keep this place clean and in pretty darn good repair. Shockingly non-traditional, I know! Despite being across the freeway from Old Port Lobster Shack, Malibu is less than a mile away via Maple Street's overpass. (See the directions link waaay down below) They have multiple courses to try all with things like windmills and pirate ships so get ready to go pro!! We're going for the Mini-golf ($8), but if people want to do the race-cars or the batting cages thing too, feel free, it's just not as cheap as miniature golf.
