Tacqueria El Gruellense & Mardi Gras Bar

El Grullense has the biggest Mexican food menu I've ever seen and it's totally authentic!! Oh, and there are several of these by the same name, but all smaller, so don't go to the wrong one! There's even one nearby in an old Taco Bell, which is completely ironic.

DRIVE-IN TACQUERIA -- WALK TO $3 BEER & $4 DRINKS

Mardi Gras bar is barely two blocks away and has pool tables, a token/small patio and a lively scene of regulars plus frequent repeat party crashers. Oh...did I mention the dirt cheap full bar?! How d'ya like $3 beer & $4 well drinks? Uh-huh. Thought so.

DIVE-O-METER©

Here's What Makes This a Cool Dive Bar, Fun Cheap Joint or Good Hole-in-the-Wall, On a Scale of 1 (less) to 7 (more) for:
    • 6 = Divey-ness
    • 7 = Cheap-ocity
    • 6 = Hole-i-ness
    • Conclusion... BOTH are Serious Dives & Mardi Gras is a definite Hole-in-the-Wall
Bonus D/J/H cred for T.E.G. being a rippingly successful/popular Mexican joint that used to be an all-American burger drive-in, way back when.

    •  I was comfortable even though I didn't know anyone. It was well planned. The organizer was very informative about parking and other information. It was fun!
    •  The taqueria was very good for the burrito I had and the little soft shell tacos looked to be good and cheap too. The band at Mardi Gras bar was very good, but so loud that you couldn't talk and nobody seemed to feel like dancing.
