It's Oktoberfest in Spring
Kommenzie fur 8 German Biers on Tap!!!!
I love specialty grocery stores. Seriously, I have some sort of problem, but can quit any time I want to. Honest.
Nevertheless, we're going to mostly ignore the grocery part of Gourmet Haus Staudt even though they have great chocolate, authentic baked goods (apple strudel!), killer sausage and some freakin’ amazing German beer. The food and drink there is such pure crack I start channeling Sergeant Schultz when I walk in and you probably will too. Okay, I can year you saying, “yeah, but what does this have to do with our group?” Well, you ever see a German joint that isn't kinda divey? The kitsch alone is...nevermind. Anyway, they’ve always had 83 rare bottled German beers (stunned, I counted them) for sale and a barely-presentable biergarten, but they're now opening a newly-remodeled, fully-presentable, air-conditioned interior beer hall and sunny biergarten.
8 German Biers on Tap + 83 in Bottles!!
So, on a warmer Friday evening, we’re going to have some fun helping them (and ourselves) open the new space to our mutual satisfaction. Think of it as Oktoberfest in Spring while listening to the German beerhall music and hanging out with our fabulous group. In addition to sampling the ten new taps, while there we can sample widely from their existing bottled beer and food menu, with items you’ll recognize all over the place. And, before you say it, German food is NOT all potatoes, fattening stuff and sausage. That's a shite stereotype you'll enjoy breaking to bits here. NOTE: This is the back biergarten in 2008. I've seen the work they're doing and it'll be WAY bigger & better in April.
