B St. Billiard Ball Bashing After a
Meal of Marvellous Pancho Villa Mexican

B Street Billiards has pool, 10 beers on tap (including Guinness) and many wines in an environment filled with good music, good tables and nice people!

Food first, THEN pool @ 8pm. After we nosh on some killer dive Mexican grub, I hope to once again set us up w/tables in the big side room (pictured above), found through a short hall to the right of the bar. Pool is only $12/hr, per table. Player groups will deal with their table charges in whatever way y'all want to divide it!

10 Beers on Tap + Mexican w/ Variety + Good Tables!

The very popular and divey Pancho Villa Taqueria is only two blocks away (at 365 S B St) and has awesome Mexican food! Page 1 of their menu boasts all the taco and burrito combinations you're used to, but for added awesomeness offers meat choices like salmon, red snapper or tofu and unique things like mushroom quesadillas. How cool is that? BIG, food-coma plates are on page two of their menu.

DIVE-O-METER©

Here's What Makes This a Cool Dive Bar, Fun Cheap Joint or Good Hole-in-the-Wall, On a Scale of 1 (less) to 7 (more) for:
    • 3 = Divey-ness
    • 4 = Cheap-ocity
    • 1 = Hole-i-ness
    • Conclusion... B St. is only a token Dive but it's genuinely cheap. Most other "pool halls" are more expensive and definitely aren't run by one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Pancho Villa is a genuine steam-table dive though!
Even though it's attractive, B St. is still a "pool hall," so gets honorary "dive" status!

Parking & Getting There

Here is a San Mateo downtown directions & parking map to:

164 So. B St., San Mateo, CA

Parking is EASY here, if you know the deal. If you drive, your best bet seems to be to follow the green lines on the map and use the nearby parking structures. CalTrain is only a block or so away.

    •  Very good food! However, a note to those who like to order shrimp: they leave the shells on, including legs and all, so you need to peel them or just crunch them up whole. Other than that it was very good. As with most Mexican, good portion sizes:) B Street Billiards is a great place to play pool. I had a great time and it was just a really fun group.
    •  I always have a good time with this group - even if I ended the night with a scratch on the 8-ball ;) The food @Pancho Villa was quick & yummy (seafood quesadilla).
    •  Hey thanks a lot Kevin for organizing this event (and for the pool lesson!). Yummy food (had a shrimp taco & beans) and a fun group of people. Looking forward to the next dive bar.

The food was great and so was the prices. Plus, I learn about playing pool and all the men were especially nice, since my husband and I only married ones.
