What are your interests? Do you have any projects to suggest?
The Copenhagen International Volunteer Club (CIVC) was founded in 2011 in order to bring together people of diverse backgrounds and experiences to work on issues of common interest. This group is for everyone regardless of age, nationality or experience who is interested or involved in the field of development/non-profit sector.
If you are interested in global politics, charity, volunteering and want to meet with others to learn more and exchange ideas (and of course have fun while doing it), this is the group for you. No experience is necessary, just an interest in making a positive contribution. We want this meet up group to grow and become a creative and active platform for exchanging ideas and inspiration on how to make a positive change, be it on a local or global scale. This group can be whatever you want it to be, and do whatever you want it to do, just take the initiative and see where your creativity can take you.
We currently have numerous work groups that you can join: Refugee Issues, Urban Gardening & Food Systems, Animal Welfare, Medical Exchanges, Sustainable Housing and the Support to Education and Research (Haiti) group in addition to our Campaigns, Logistics and Documentation group which assists the topic-focused work groups. A new initiative is our CIVC Emergency Response Group (CERG) which sends out volunteers to help at asylum centres which are overstretched by the increased number of refugees in the Danish asylum system.
In addition to the activities of CERG we are now involved in assisting with the running of the second hand clothing shop and computer lab at the Sandholm asylum centre and are planning a range of further activities at this asylum centre.
Sign up for one (or all) of our work groups and get involved. If you have any suggestions for new activities please feel free to propose them and we will help you make it happen.
