Play Reading

The Globe is a traditional pub with lots of beers on tap and a good selection of pub food.
If you’ve never tried acting, our play reading events are a great place to start. It’s essentially off-stage acting. Depending on the number of characters in the chosen play, it may be that you have the chance to read for several characters. A great chance to test your versatility. Play reading events are also a great opportunity for us to assess a play as a potential future production.
You can choose to read a part or just sit and listen. We usually hang around for a chat afterwards.

New Kids On The Block! :-) 10 attendees registered, lots of new faces. Excellent input from all, as we tackled a fairly modern British Work - Abandonment by Kate Atkinson. Positive feedback. Nice One C :-)
PS. I kept saying 'CTC' all evening. For 'surfers', try 'CTCIRCLE' :-)

The play will be Abandonment by Kate Atkinson (Male 4, Female 8). 2-Acts, total of 19 scenes. We will do the 2004 edition, described as :-
Elizabeth, forty-something, childless, recently separated, just wants to be alone. She's moved into her new house, a converted Victorian mansion, alive with history, character, woodworm and dry rot. But worse than that, she's besieged by invaders of the human kind.
Her best friend, her sister, their mother, the builder and a photographer are all determined to make their mark. And a former inhabitant of the house, disturbed from her resting-place by Elizabeth's arrival, stirs long-forgotten memories.
A play about love, death, identity and evolution, Abandonment is a complex mixture of social comedy and family drama, reminding us that the past is not as far away as we think. Abandonment premiered at the Traverse Theatre during the 2000 Edinburgh Festival.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
