v3.0

The Coppell Urban Preparation Group (The Group) is for and by the citizens of Coppell as a local group for its members to respond to a disaster or situation where the ability of society to supply essentials has degraded or stopped completely ( Katrina, 1992 LA Riots).  Our mission is simple. Have water, food, shelter and protection for ourselves and our families in a manner that is simple, cost-effective and sustainable.

This group expects members that are active and participating in training, events and activities.  Chair-warmers will no longer be accommodated.  If you wish to join, do so and attend the Orientation meeting and the Subsistence Food and Water meeting.  If you wish to continue at that point, and abide by the groups principles, you are welcome.  If you do not, that's fine as well.  In any case, your profile will be removed from the group after one or two months regardless, hence the no members count on this front page.  This is to protect the members from other individuals causing problems. You can rejoin again if you were removed and are still interested.  Only banned individuals are permanently removed.

What the Group strives for:
• Organized to respond to reasonable emergencies, assisting its own members as needed
• Skilled in supplying its own goods and services where practical
• Disciplined both in mind and body to be ready to meet each challenge
• Socially bonded
• Pragmatic and rational approach to solutions that are the best practice and lowest cost
• Emphasis on subsistence farming in an urban environment
• Law-abiding. We cooperate with Coppell law enforcement
• Inclusive. No skill levels required. Just a willingness to learn and participate. You need to be 'a closer'.

What the Group is NOT:
• End-of-the-World cult
• Suicide by Stockpiling
• Looking for 'Action'
• Expecting to 'bug out'
• Meet and Eats
• A loose affiliation of like-minded individuals or a MAG.
• A place to sell products. We avoid manufactured solutions.

The Group has monthly meetings, usually at the Coppell Public Library where you can learn more about who we are and what we do. Emphasis will be on self-reliance, knowledge sharing, efficiency and cooperation. Kids are welcome to participate as long as they are not disruptive.

New members should sign up for the next Orientation meeting.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
