Phoenix thru Arlington, Gila Bend, Maricopa back to Phoenix

This is a great little ride.  Yepper - we are starting out a little later - maybe it will warm up by then.  We will ride from Phoenix thru Buckeye, then thru Arlington down to Gila Bend.   That ride is thru the rural area, and a popular motorcycle area.  We can eat in Gila Bend (I picked the Space Age Diner as a locator - we can go anywhere we desire).  From Gila Bend, we will take 238 to Maricopa - this is a wonderful little road - not much traffic thru sonoran desert to Maricopa.  Then we will ride north thru Maricopa (347) towards Phoenix.  For those who want the quicker road or are going east - keep going north up to the I-10, head north and you are home.  For those on the west, or those who prefer to avoid the freeway, you can take the 51st ave cutoff from the 347, which takes you west thru the reservation, then north to 51st avenue, where it heads straight north - ending up on - you guest it - 51st Avenue. From Baseline road or any east/west street above that,  you can head east or west, depending on your location.  This entire ride is about 150-ish miles - the 51st avenue alternate ride adds about 7 miles vs the I-10 route.

I'm so glad you weren't waiting for us in Buckeye - we never found it! (actually went a wide circle under it).

Nope - Gila Bend is not the only place we ride! It just happened to be where THIS ride was - but, of course, as Jodie stated, it was quite a ride. Nice farm roads (Read - desolate). Lot of wide, sweeping turns (read - lost!). but it's not about the destination, it's the ride...

Well....Helen took us on her own version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...One normal U-turn and 1 walking U-turn...as we ended up on a dear end where all 3 directions were DIRT! We worked our way around for the scenic tour and made it to the Space Age restaurant after about 3 hours of riding! Missed Worm, who had contacted Helen previously...And we think, got there, ate and left, before we got to Gila Bend...

Heading home we all split off to go our different directions. And Helen...your bike isn't THAT loud.... :)

Cannot wait to ride with you all - but I'm still in WI and it's 5 and heading down to temp of -25 tonight with wind chill to -50. Most schools in upper mid-west are already closed for Monday. But in 3 weeks today we'll be near Texas or New Mexico; so getting closer to Phoenix!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
