Argentine Wine is a lot more than just Malbec…. from Malbec based blends to surprising sparkling and dessert wines – even eye opening Pinot Noirs from Patagonia. Leading the discussion and tasting will be Ed Sorensen who just came back from an extensive tour of the Argentine wine regions. Ed has developed close relationships to the most prominent boutique wineries in Argentina allowing us to feature high-end, limited release wines made by quality producers from the best wine regions in Argentina. We will be tasting eight premium wines from Argentina: this is Ed’s breaking news report from the state of the Argentine Wine!
Guest: Ed Sorensen. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ed is a graduate of Haverford College and was awarded a PhD in Spanish 17th Century literature at Michigan State University. His professional life has taken him from the world of Academia to information technology. His passion in life (aside from his wife Giulia) is rugby, a sport in which he excels as a referee, having been appointed to referee major international matches. He is also interested in politics, literature, arts, music (opera!), food and wine. Ed collects wine seriously and believes that wine must be approached with an open mind. His advice to wine tasters is similar to one he gives referees: “Be prepared, but not prejudiced.” At his table, you will find wines that are nuanced and generous – happy wines.
