Learn How to Develop Apps with Dr. Brian Burton at Reel FX's Dallas Studio

On Saturday, January 11th 2014 we're meeting at Reel FX's Dallas studio to learn how to build mobile apps.

*** Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can get a head count for this event.

Dr. Brian Burton, author of "Learning Mobile Application & Game Development with Corona SDK", is going to show us how to go from concept to finished product with easy to use app development tools.

Dr. Burton is an expert on mobile development whose materials are used by students and developers around the world.

Check out his books:

Thank you to Reel FX who has graciously offered to host January's Meetup at their Dallas studio. If you're not familiar with Reel FX, maybe you're familiar with their holiday hit film "Free Birds" that raked in $16.2 million during its opening weekend.

Reel FX used Corona SDK to create their game, Baby Turkey Trouble, which has been used to market the film in the mobile space.

Download the app:

We'll also have time for networking, bring your app idea and come connect with some of the most creative people in the Dallas area.

Meeting Agenda:

+ Welcome meet up attendees
+ Speaker presentation
+ Closing thoughts
+ Networking

Pizza and refreshments will be provided, so come hungry and enjoy.

Contact Charles McKeever if you have any questions about this event.

Have a safe and merry holiday season and we'll see you in 2014.

Parking is in front of the main building entrance. The building has also had a makeover. So the image shown in Google Maps isn't entirely accurate. Keep that in mind when you're looking for landmarks.

Sorry, that was suppose to be Dale Carman. I'll be glad when my computer learns to correctly correct my typos :)

Wow! All I can say is THANK YOU!!! Thank you to everyone who spent part of their Saturday with us. Thank you to Dr. Burton for traveling all the way from Abilene to talk about Corona app development. And, thank you to REEL FX for inviting us out and sharing their beautiful space with us today. It was truly an amazing day.

It was a good talk. Gave me some ideas for hooking up users with online data.

WOW! Reel FX is an inspiration. Did not know we had a Hollywood contender here in our backyard. Simply amazed by their work. As far as the presentation I was expecting to learn how to write a 'Hello World' app using Corona SDK, but it was more about a REST backend. They discussed how easy it is to work in Corona, so it was useful.

Hi Charles! Is this a hands-on lab? Should I install the SDK beforehand? Please let us know if there any pre-requisites. Looking forward to the meetup.
    Thank you!

Charles' response via email: It won't be a hands-on or a lab, but you are welcome to bring your laptop.
