Group,

we have decided this season we are going to implement a beginner/novice game.

This game will usually have an advanced player/referee there to teach rules, strategy, and technique. These games are going to be played short-sided (which means instead of 11v11, the games will be 5v5 or 6v6).

Short-sided games mean less running and more ball touches, so that you improve more quickly, since you'll touch the ball 4x as often as if you are in an 11v11 game on a huge field. We think this will really increase the fun/work ratio for new players, and avoid intimidation of playing with the "good" players.

The Novice Games will start at 3:30, not our regular 4pm start time. Novice games start on the same date as the regular league, which is 3/14. The earlier start time will be in effect for the first few weeks, as we see how the games work out (for us and for you). We have advanced games taking place at the same time, so if you have a friend/spouse of different abilities, you can both get your kicks with players you belong with!

If you want to be placed in the novice games, please e-mail me via my contact info (from the "members" menu to the left), or grab me at the fields on gamedays (I'm #18, or wearing the referee uniform).

I also ask that because the Novice games are limited in player #s, please RSVP on the calendar! RSVPs get first dibs on playing!

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
