This inspired Meetups in London
Hi there, I did post before, but I'm a journalist for the Observer and I'm writing an article on Coursera and online education. Are any of you around for a meet-up this weekend?? Eg a coffee on Sunday morning? I would just be really interested to meet you in the flesh and ask you some questions about how and why you got involved with Coursera etc. Is anyone up for this?
All best, Carole

Hello...
Posted by carole cad November 3Gosh, sorry, this got complicated! Shall we go for 11am at the Wellcome Trust then? Shall we go for that?
I'll be there! The cafe is at the Wellcome Collection, next door to the the Trust building, so the older building with the columns, not the modern glass one
Posted by James Lush November 3Hi, Carole. I won't be able to make the 11am one. So have fun tomorrow and hope you find what you are looking for. Pls let's us know when your article goes out as well. Will love to read it.:)
Posted by Yoyo November 3Sorry, 2pm would have been a better time for me

Could someone confirm time and place?
Posted by Rosemary Jamieson November 3Thanks
Rosemary
please vote for the hours there : http://doodle.com/wiztnverg...
Posted by nicolas November 3Wellcome trust works for me as well. How about 1pm?
Posted by Yoyo November 3cool, a new topic !
Posted by nicolas November 3so hour wise, we have 1pm here, 2pm in the title, 11am the preceding post, and 12pm before that. I created a doodle for choosing that. Pleas cast your votes http://doodle.com/wiztnverg...
Posted by nicolas November 3Hi James, fair point! I'm easy...why don't we go for your suggestion of the Wellcome Trust at 11am, then??? That's a bit more central...
Posted by carole cad November 3Hi guys, I'd be in for a chat at Wellcome Trust.
Posted by nicolas November 3This suits me - I thought I was already giving concessions to any North London contingent by suggesting this... We could shift to a little later if necessary
Posted by James Lush November 3Hi all, would Zsuzsanna's suggestion of 12pm in Kenwood House cafe work for people?? It's good for me becuase I can combine it with walking my dog (!) but is it okay for other people? what do you reckon?
Posted by carole cad November 3It's very far north! What happened to central London?
Posted by James Lush November 3I'll be out of the country, unfortunately.
Posted by Timothy George Rowe November 3Where does this take place?
Posted by Richard November 3Hi,
Posted by Zsuzsanna Ardo November 3Has the venue been agreed on? How about 12pm this Sunday, 4th Nov, at Kenwood coach house cafe on Hampstead Heath? Nearest tube station is Hampstead on the Northern Line.
I could be around but looking through the thread I'm not sure which venue and time have been decided! Lynn
Posted by Lynn B November 3Happy to share my coursera experience so far, as I've been saying all the good things about coursera in last a few weeks with colleagues. Not sure I could make it though given the pending location? I should be able to get anywhere in Central London around 2pm if the location is not too difficult to reach.
Posted by Chen Wang November 2Hi all,
Posted by carole cad November 2That's great! Thanks very much. That's interesting about the other meet-up, Sam. I hadn't seen that. Shame I missed last week's. Would we be able to make the meet a bit earlier, do you think? Say 11am? Or if that's too early, 12? Has anyone got any good suggestions for a zone 1 cafe? Just somewhere easy to get to and likely to have a table...
11am works for me. My initial suggestion would be the cafe at the Wellcome Collection, on Euston Road opposite Euston station. It's large and easy to find. (It opens at 11 on Sundays, so don't try to be early, but it definitely won't be full!)
Posted by James Lush November 2P.S. My partner is also doing a course so she may join too.
Hi Carole - I can't join you this weekend, but do check out our other group that covers all the new online courses, i.e. EdX, Udacity, Coursera etc. http://www.meetup.com/Londo...
we started back in Fall 2011 and meet regularly every Wednesday night. Cheers, Sam
Posted by Sam Joseph November 2Hi, Carole,
I suggested a time here for Sunday, but you would change it if you like, and a place in the west or central will be good for people to meet up I think. Cheers.
Posted by Yoyo November 1I would like to attend and am ready to give you input about this over the phone as well if you wish.
Posted by Pawandeep kaur November 1Hi,
Posted by James Lush November 1I'd be very keen - I'm available all day Sunday and Saturday pm. Live near London Bridge but can travel around London (Crouch End seems a bit far though! Zone 1?).
James
Hi Carole - I'm happy to discuss what I am using Coursera for over the phone if that is any help.
Posted by Susan Wright November 1Hi Adrian,
Posted by carole cad November 1That's great. Anyone else around???
Sounds good to me! I'd suggest Crouch End if we are a small group, but I m flexible.
