Greetings! I've recently moved to Austin from Raleigh, NC where I developed a love for decadent craft brews. I'm excited to share and learn from other beer enthusiasts! Cheers!
Haha... good question. It was the first week I lived in Raleigh, NC. I was at the Flying Saucer there and the lady next to me suggested I get a local coffee stout from Big Boss Brewery called Aces and Eights. I thought it was terrible at the time, but last time I had it, I found it delectable!
I usually prefer a full bodied Imperial Stout, but Porters and Brown Ales rank highly on my list. I'll drink anything that's complex and expertly crafted.
This changes periodically since there are so many amazing beers in the world but currently I love Great Divide's Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout, Lonerider's Sweet Josie (NC beer), and New Belgium's Cocoa Mole.
For their overall variety and excellence in brewing such a variety, I really enjoy Avery, New Belgium, and Stone breweries.
I've only lived in Austin for 3 weeks, but so far I really like Opal Divine's, Ginger Man, and Banger's.
Hi Maui, thanks for joining! You're right, it's much easier to learn from another person than it is from a book. I hope you can join us for a meetup soon!
Welcome to The Expedition School meetup! Please let us know if you have any questions or are looking for specific training or education. We are hosting a lake clean-up on Saturday if you would like to stop by and meet us. Thanks, Kim Sorensen Assistant director, The Expedition School
