I've had many requests to have a beginner's sewing group. So this meetup all the experienced sewing people can share the joy. Beginners bring a pattern (if it say's "easy" on the pattern, brilliant!) and material (1.5 to 2 metres depending on what you want to make) to play with, scissors and pins. Thread I have plenty. I would request if you have an easily mobile machine please bring it along. I have plenty of tables and chairs and a great cutting table thanks to my husband. Experienced folk please come along as you may pick up a skill or two. I'm hoping someone will come and show me how to put together my sampler quilt so I can give it to my mum this winter (she's 86, and can't wait forever). Everyone tells me its easy, but I look at my finished blocks and wonder how to cut the joining bits. I'm a visual person and reading it doesn't always make sense. Also if you have other crafts you wish to learn e.g. knitting, crochet, cross-stitching etc, I'm sure we can team you up with somebody. There's plenty of room so the more the merrier.
“ The regular group was awesome! We had one beginner and her focus was on beading (Lindel does some amazing jewelery) but the sewing beginner couldn't make so we had a lovely afternoon chatting, beading, sharing printed version of the new charity project - knitting baby beanies for the Mater hospital. I need more beginners interested in learning to sew to do another teaching session. ”
