I've had many requests to have a beginner's sewing group. So this meetup all the experienced sewing people can share the joy. Beginners bring a pattern (if it say's "easy" on the pattern, brilliant!) and material (1.5 to 2 metres depending on what you want to make) to play with, scissors and pins. Thread I have plenty. I would request if you have an easily mobile machine please bring it along. I have plenty of tables and chairs and a great cutting table thanks to my husband. Experienced folk please come along as you may pick up a skill or two. I'm hoping someone will come and show me how to put together my sampler quilt so I can give it to my mum this winter (she's 86, and can't wait forever). Everyone tells me its easy, but I look at my finished blocks and wonder how to cut the joining bits. I'm a visual person and reading it doesn't always make sense. Also if you have other crafts you wish to learn e.g. knitting, crochet, cross-stitching etc, I'm sure we can team you up with somebody. There's plenty of room so the more the merrier.

Lindel said she be helping her daughter do beading. So here's another skill you may wish to learn.

    •  The regular group was awesome! We had one beginner and her focus was on beading (Lindel does some amazing jewelery) but the sewing beginner couldn't make so we had a lovely afternoon chatting, beading, sharing printed version of the new charity project - knitting baby beanies for the Mater hospital. I need more beginners interested in learning to sew to do another teaching session.
