Why do you believe in Development as an Craftsmanship?

Software development is a craft and not a fixed engineering approach. By recognizing software development as a craft you also recognize that each developer and each team can strive for their own goals on software development instead of having to follow an engineering approach. This in my opinion improves self development and responsibility of developers. And in my opinion, treating development as craftmanship is essential for agile environments.
