Announcing a new Meetup for Sewing, Crafts, & Creative Projects @ Los Angeles!

What: Holiday Cookie Exchange @ West LA

When: Saturday, December 4, 2010 1:00 PM

Where: St. Bede's Church
3590 Grand View Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90066

Enjoy homemade cookies - and have a big box of various homemade cookies to take home as you leave!

==============================
IMPORTANT! Arrive on time!
==============================
Please arrive between 1pm and 2pm with your cookies to exchange. We'll sample the cookies during that time, and after 2pm, we'll start divying things up. Between 2 and 5pm, we'll hang out and chat and maybe play some games if folks are up for it!
==============================

In years past, we've had upwards of 20 people at this event, and every surface covered with platters of cookies, with everyone tasting, laughing and sharing.

We'll display all the cookies, taste and talk, and exchange recipes. We'll then pick and choose from the collection and have plenty to bring home. Perfect for gifts (in a tin or wrapped in tissue they are great for co-workers and friends) , bringing to holiday parties, or hoarding for yourself.

Need ideas? Thumbprint, fudge, divinity, gingerbread, macaroons, ladyfingers, spritz, pfefferneuse, shortbread, sugar, [a href="http://www.christmas-cookies.com/"]go here or [a href="http://www.northpole.com/Kitchen/Cookbook/cat0001.html"]here[/a] for all those and more.

If a baking frenzy strikes, you are welcome to bring more than 1 batch of cookies. We certainly won't turn down extra goodies.

COST: Just $5 to cover the hall rental.

PARKING: The church is doing a car wash, so the parking lot will NOT be available. Please park on the street - there's ample close free parking.

==============================
Before you RSVP, keep in mind several important rules:
==============================
1) Everyone must bring 1 batch (3-5 dozen depending on size) of HOMEMADE cookies. If you don't cook or run out of time, an alternative is to bring high-quality cookies from a local bakery.

2. What isn't okay: Do not bring Oreos, Keeblers, or even grocery store (Vons, Ralphs) bakery cookies. We can recommend [a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&q=90066+bakery&fb=1&view=text&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=more-results&cd=1"]a few local bakeries.[/a]

3. Do not bring large cookies - it's awkward to sample them and too hard to split up if you're giving them as gifts.

4. All +1s must also bring cookies. It's unfair to everyone who put in all the effort to bake, only to have your extra friends come to eat and take cookies for free.
