NOLS First Aid Course- Bloomsburg University "Quest"

This event is self-hosted, whoever signs up and actually pays (directly with Quest) can get together for carpooling, camping, etc.  Please forward any questions towards the Quest folks directly, [masked] or [masked]).

The NOLS first aid course by Quest at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA, is a good course for any hiker or backpacker, whether you're leading or following. Always good to have some basic knowledge and know what to do if someone gets in trouble, especially yourself. :)

Course was great for beginners and people who need to touch up on first aid. Class had about 30 students with 2 instructors, who were well qualified and did their best to get through as much as possible in 16 hours. Focus was on patient assessment, addressing the immediate needs of the patient, and preparing patient for evac from a wilderness setting. Half the class was in the classroom, the other half was held outside as simulated scenarios, allowing us to practice the learned skills in small groups. Highly recommended!

Hi there. I have not done any events with Crazee Monkeys yet, but I hope to soon. I like the two day course theme as I see some are squeezed into a single day. If you can get more info as advance notice of a course schedule, that would really help. Thank you.

My wife and I are heading up from Richboro, PA, 18954. There are 2 extra seats in the car if anyone from the area needs a ride. Closest train station out of Philly is the Warminster station. We plan to head up early Saturday morning and return Sunday night, finding a place to stay over in Bloomsburg Saturday night.

Looks like we grabbed the last two spots on this one. Bloomsburg holds this course and a more involved Wilderness First Responder course. Dates and details are on their website. I'll let you know how this one goes!
