  • This location is shown only to members

This is a self hosted hike, you are responsible for keeping and updating your RSVP, exchanging contact info, arranging carpooling.  I have changed the event page so if someone wants to take charge that can make the necessary changes to the event page.  Directions and details down below.

Tammany

1200ft elevation gain, 3.5 miles, 2-3 hours.

Plus a short drive to hit Mt Minsi as well...

1020ft elevation gain, 5.1 miles, 3-4 hours

Plus hot dogs and pie and local shop!

Carry as much weight as you wish to make it as hard as you want.

Meet at the dunnfieldsparking area.  The start of the Tammany trail is near the entrance of the parking lot on your left hand side (as you walk towards it).  It is a red dot with white square background.  Follow the red dot trail all the way to the top ( the end of the trail is denoted by three red dots in a triangular formation.  You can either go back down the way you came or follow the blue trail markings down to the parking lot.  I suggest you mix it up so that it isn't too boring.  It's up to the group to do this 2-3x.

Please post your carpooling needs in the comments section. The google link is not detailed towards the end so please read the more detailed directions below:
GOOGLE DIRECTIONS for Dunnfield parking area
http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=Dunnfield+parking+lot+%4040.971938,-75.125788&geocode=&dirflg=&saddr=Philadelphia,+PA&f=d&dq=Dunnfield+parking+lot,+loc:+delaware+water+gap&sll=40.980504,-75.117582&sspn=0.021899,0.050347&cid=9295330036511233783&ie=UTF8&ll=40.446947,-75.346985&spn=1.506976,2.458191&z=9
When you are on I-80 East, you will pass the exit for the town of delaware water gap. you will then drive over a bridge/overpass, immediately after the bridge/overpass is an exit on the right (the sign maybe small or hard to see). Take that exit
go down the ramp, and take a left.
on your right hand side is the river, parking lot, visitors center, bathroom (This is not where we are meeting). Regular Bathrooms and portapotties maybe open.
Drive straight, and veer left under the overpass, take a left again and parking lot for sunfish pond is on your immediate right.

For a clean bathroom that is sure to be open, take the exit for the town of delaware water gap, follow signs to welcome center (should be left at the first light). follow signs for I-80 east to get back on the road.

Weather forecast is as follows: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 82. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Still good to go? I am OK with this. Take a chance on some rain in the afternoon.

I'm still in for the hike on Monday as well... really I just want another chance to go to the pie shop! I hope they're open considering it's a holiday.

I've done both hikes and have maps too, we'll be fine as long as the rain holds off.

I plan to go if others do. I can drive someone if they need a ride from near Chestnut Hill / Ft. Washington or further up Rt. 309 N.

I would still be interested in doing this based on Salve's directions if there is enough interest by others still signed up. Will check back & see the consensus later in weekend. If the hike is cancelled, sure we'll have another opportunity down the road.

Is this still going to occur? I am still planning on being there.

Salve, I have only done this hike once with a group and was not paying attention to the parking lot locations and trailheads/trails. Otherwise, I would have been happy to lead.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
