So, one of my go
als for this year (particularly this winter) is to get a lot better at rock climbing, starting with indoor, but will be posting outdoor adventures once the weather gets nicer. So I need to prepare! In light of this, I am scheduling a weekly meetup on Tuesdays to find others who want to hit the walls. This will be a standing meet-up and there will be no announcement emails in your in-boxes. Just check in here and post if you would like to come out. I will not be at every event, but I hope this will be a good place for people to co-ordinate and communicate meet-ups with eachother (even for other days that work for you). In light of that fact DO NOT be a "No Show-er". If you sign up, please make your commitment, so no one is left "hanging"... (yuck yuck) :/

Take your strength training to new heights, literally. Rock climbing is a full-body workout
that feels less like work and more like play. An engaged core helps keep your body balanced on the wall, grip or finger strength helps you hold on, and your arms and legs are responsible for powering you up to the top of the climb. The best part: All that work builds endurance. A single climb is sure to leave you gasping for air.
Added bonus: Rock climbing exercises the mind. Every climb—from short boulder problems (high-powered climbing that’s closer to the ground) to longer routes—is like a maze or a puzzle. You have to figure out the best way to get to the top.
If you've never been rock climbing, Go Vertical offers a getting started class for $65 to teach the basics and get you feeling comfortable on the wall. You will need to let me know ahead of time so I can make sure they have enough trainers available. The class is 2 hours long and includes all gear and 2 free climbing passes to use in the following two weeks.
If you have you own gear, it is $18 to climb till closing. If you need to rent shoes, belay, and harness it is an additional $12, so $30 total. If you find you like climbing, I recommend investing in gear to save money.
Slight change in plans... I'll be wearing a more of a sky blue shirt with a cartoonish little man on it. :)
hey guys may not be able to make it, because i have a conference call until at least 7:45. I have been climbing for several years and am looking to meet new people to climb with, looking forward to the next one :)
Log in to Meetup with your Facebook account.
Nice size group for the event. So far Sarah is taking the beginner class, and I'll assume everyone else is a climber/belayer. Most of you know me, but for those who don't I'll be wearing a dark blue shirt with an orange heart and cross bones on it. Looking forward to it!
