Stargazing at Paynes Prairie

One of the other meetups if getting together for hiking, picnicking, and stargazing at Paynes Prairie just south of Gainesville. I reserved site 48. I think there are 3 more trailer sites available and lots of tent sites. Fishing and kayaking is right there too.

    If anyone wants to go for the day, Debbie Burgess' other group, the Rebuilders, is meeting at McDonalds on Old St. Augustine Road and I-95 Saturday at 10:00 to car pool down. It's shaping up to be a nice day with a good crowd.

    Still trying to get a spot. I'll have the camper ready for last minute, cuz that's the way it goes sometimes....

      I appreciate it, but it's too much work to pull the trailer for just one night, and I have my dog. If I can't get a trailer spot for both nights, I'll have to pass

    The weather this weekend at Payne's Prairie looks great for anything we want to do. See link <http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/Paynes+Prairie+State+Preserve+FL+FLSPPP:13:US>;
    Tenters will especially like it because there's no rain and probably won't even need a heater. Is anyone bringing a kayak?

    My other meet up will be at the Park around noon for a picnic, then they are planning to hike. You folks are welcome to join us. We just asked that everyone bring a dish to share.

    I have now officially messed up my reservation... Looks like I may have to take up the offer to tent at your site if it's still available...

      If you're talking about my site, you're welcome to it. How did you mess up your reservation?

    Is this meetup still taking place?

    January 12, 2014

      I'm going, not sure about the rest. I'm planning on kayaking and going to the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire in Gainesville. Someone was going to put a tent in my site but I think we can get away with two at this place if you can't get a reservation. I'm in site 48.

    I posted this event on Roc'N Singles in conjunction with the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire in Gainesville. I put Saturday, Feb. 1 for the meetup from 10am to 6pm at the Faire. My oldest daughter and her husband are going to previous weekend and they will be in costume so I'm going to borrow my son-in-law's outfit. Knowing my daughter's talent for sewing, it will be pretty authentic.

    Check this link for the Faire <http://www.gvlculturalaffairs.org/website/programs_events/HMF/medieval_index.html>; Be sure to check out the photo gallery.

      Alan, I will take you up on the tent and mattresses. Can I use them for this and the April trip?

      Ok, we'll talk about this Wed. at Clarks Fish Camp

    Just found out about a really neat medieval faire Jan 31 and Feb 1. Good coincidence, better book while sites available... check this link https://scontent-b-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/q71/s720x720/936547_10202800084034198_733101793_n.jpg
