I had meant to sent a note like this out a bit closer to January 1st but that was not to be. 2011 was a fun year and we have a lot of fun things planned for 2012!
The Night and Low Light Meetup Group more than doubled it's size to 427 members. We have added an additional 14 members in the first week of this year for a current total of 441 members.
The Create Photographics Meetup Group (formerly The Fredericksburg Regional Photography Group) got its new name in 2011. Since I took over as the organizer of the group mid January of last year, the group has added nearly 200 members. The current membership stands at 424.
While not being busy enough with those two groups, I created a new group in June of this year. The Digital Photo Academy DC Meetup Group was started on June 29, 2011. Membership has been growing steadily since then and currently has 242 members.
I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all our new members in all three groups. I hope to see you at a Meetup real soon. We have some fun Meetups planned for this year and we are planning more! Dates for 2012 have been posted on each Meetup Group's calendar for this year so that you can plan ahead. The dates are there so you can mark your calendar but we have not yet planned all of the activities for the meetups.
One Meetup I'd like to bring your attention to now is one that was a lot of fun last year and should be again this year. Last June the Night and Low Light Meetup Group hosted the "Celebrate the Summer Solstice" Meetup, an all night shoot in Washington DC. This will be an annual event with the "2nd Annual Celebrate the Summer Solstice" Meetup being held June 23, 2012. Be looking for more information as summer gets closer!
I am having a great time organizing these Meetups! I have some great help doing so with Assistant Organizers: André Williams (all three groups), Tom Finzel (Night and Low Light), Allen Clore and Siobán Young (Create Photographics). Thank you all for your help and support!
If you have any ideas for Meetups please let André, Tom, Allen, Siobhán or myself know. We appreciate your input. I look forward to seeing everyone at a future Meetup!
All the best, Vincent
PS - For those of you who are members of two or all three of the Meetups that I organize I apologize for the multiple emails. They are all the same so you only need to read one.
