Perhaps we could do what you suggest after the regular meeting is over. Those who wish to stay do. We might wish to limit the size of a group so we can all sit around one table or maybe we break into groups

I'd suggest breaking into groups if there are too many people; wait and see each time who wants to stay.

The meeting on the first Tuesday is for sharing art and socializing. If people are interested in doing critiques then that should be at a separate meeting. After the holiday season we will be setting a formal critique meeting (TBD). If someone would like to set one up before then the LCC can be used. In regards to sharing information. A weekly email goes out to all members every Thursday. If you have information to share please send me an email and I will included it. The reason for the email as opposed to doing it at the Tuesday meeting is that the meeting only represents a small portion of the group.

I thnk you were right about two seperate meetings. One to share information, like Mel and Sue Hunt did last night; and one to actually look at someone's work and tell them what you like and what you think could make it better. I know I'm not comfortable giving negative comments in the enviroment we have currently. Maybe others feel that way too. But, if I knew that someone really wanted their work to be critiqued, I'd try to tell them what I thought they did really well and where there was room for improvement. I'm certainly not an art expert; but when we all look at the same thing, we all see it differently. For someone like me, I'd love to have others tell me what I could have done differently or how I could achieve a look that I missed the mark on.

Terry, I agree. If an artist needs input from the group, whatever that may entail, it should probably happen in a more controlled situation (smaller group, maybe including only those who are looking for feedback?).

This was my first meeting. I enjoyed seeing everyone's art and hearing their ideas about their own work. I saw it as an opportunity to share current work, work in progress, or some of their thoughts with the group using some art as a way to express that. Those artists looking for that piece to be critiqued might say so and then stay later with those willing to offer their comments for that purpose.

When is the opening of the Ewing show?

    November 5, 2013

  • Terry W.

The meeting was good, but even when we bring our pieces and share them, I don't see that there's a healthy conversation about the pieces with a majority of the people involved.

Any suggestions as to how we might accomplish this?

      November 6, 2013

If anyone has art they would like to submit to the Ewing Arts show about memory I can pick it up at the meeting :)

Joy, That would be great you can drop your piece off in the mayors office & I will pick it up there. Please make sure it is labeled. There is a $5 submission fee (to cover the cost of goodies at the opening). The show will be in the first hallway of the Muni building.
