Are you a motivated Creative Nonfiction Writer, whether published yet or not, who is willing to learn as well as help others do the same?

Yes! Creative NF writers. We are a special breed who play well with others!

Do you read a lot as well as enjoy writing nonfiction, especially but not limited to either memoirs or personal essays?

I feel compelled to write about my life to look back later and see who I am.

Have you ever taken a structured class in CNF, and if so, where?

What are some of your "write about interests"--family, growing-up experiences, travel, place, things you've experienced, things you have accomplished, special hobbies and interests?

I see life to be a continuous series of feelings, like catching my first night crawler with my 7 year old fingers touching the moist earth, feeling the worm struggle for its life as it yields to my childpower. Each of us is feeling every moment of every day. Consciousness is feeling, and nothing more. Language itself erupts from feeling. Every thought is but a refined feeling, and all feelings are ephemeral. We seek permanence, but another feeling takes over--the feeling of control. We snip and bend and hammer our language as if our reason and logic could remove language from its roots in feeling. It can't.

In which quadrant of the Twin Cities do you spend most of your time?

I write at the intersection of philosophy, psychology and creative nonfiction. My manuscript has been lying dormant for the last several years. I need to commune with other writers for a kick start. I'm ready for this group!

What Donald A. is saying about this Meetup Group

Our Meetup on Feb 4, 2014 had only three Writers, but we accomplished our goals of introductions, talking about our writing, and discussing the future of the group including when and where to meet and the name of the group. We decided to continue to meet on the East side of Twin Cites, next month on a Thursday Evening, and we'll keep the name of the group the same until we have more input from other members. In our next Meetup, we will each bring several copies of a short piece of our own writing (just 1-2 pages double spaced) and distribute copies to the others in attendance. Then each of us can take a turn describing our piece and be available for some thoughtful and constructive feedback from others. Our goal is to help one another to improve our writing with positive suggestions from others in the group. Don Allan, organizer. *****
