I'm a poet so I'm not sure if this is the right group for me, but I'm eager to meet other writers as I'm new to the area. Just moved to Marietta 2 months ago!

It was great meeting you and Cary tonight and I am looking forward to seeing you again! I will most likely schedule The Book Thief soon too so stay tuned.
Timing is everything in writing. This may not be the right time for you. But remember, you are writing at the sink as you do dishes, in the car while you are driving, as your mind wanders pouring through "Want Ads". Keep a journal, Danna, and when the planets are aligned, the opportunity will present itself. And you will be ready. Every book has its time. Just do not give up. Your mind will be more free to write more when you are not so concerned about finances.
The fee also works as an incentive for the members. I believe the average individual's commitment level is higher when money is at stake. One of the reasons I have such a high success rate with my writer-members in the past is because, especially in these hard times, people generally want to get their money's worth. When you combine that with the accountability of bi-weekly sessions and the adherence to my guidelines and rules of conduct for a "safe place", your writing will take off.
I'm sorry you find the $15 unmanageable fee at this time but if I did not impose some kind of charge, the program would cost me too much to offer to others. Initially, nine years ago, I conducted my workshop through libraries and community centers where I had access to printers and paper expenditures were gratis. I even continued this program when I was in a wheelchair, after I had been hit by a car, due to the loyal following that evolved from our meetings So this is a true "heart" thing.
We ALWAYS meet on Wednesdays, I try for every two weeks. I do not know how the calendar put that date on the website, but I have never been able to understand computers. We meet a 7 pm, but I am often late so do not leave. Sometimes I have a difficult time getting a ride there/ So talk to each other and I will soon be there. See you then...
Welcome, Danna... I just moved from New York to Roswell 20 months ago. I began my life as a poet myself, getting my first poem published at the age of eleven. I taught poetry workshops at the college in our town, so I am truly looking forward to meeting you. Poetry is so difficult to get published but remains, for me, the life's breath of the writing experience. I am very excited about the prospect of listening to your works! Bring whatever you want to share to the next meeting.
Welcome Danna - Guess what I moved to Marietta 6 yrs ago to be closer to my son. No children were planned at that time. Now I have the greatest blessing & joy I have ever known, Jaylynn Rose, 4 yrs. old!!!
So thrilled that you will be joining us !!
