It was my first time with the group. I enjoyed it. Rolando and the model did a great job.

Rolando did a terrific job. One thing I learned was to look at each light source one at a time to see how it falls on the subject. Now why didn't I think of that before?

Loved the meet-up, It is nice of Brandi to allow us to "practice" with her model family and the other clients that she manages. I'm not sure if they are compensated but every time that I've shot them or been around them they all seem to be good sports. Thanks guys! I'm becoming more confident with my past experience as a studio photographer and realizing that maybe I'm not such a bonehead after all,LOL. Especially through the patience of Bonnie and Art in their subtle mentoring. I also really enjoyed the Help Portraits event, the recipients of the 8 X 10 portraits seemed very grateful and I was glad to do something positive for the community.

Best one yet, I have avoided flash and the human figure all my life in photography as I spent a lot of time as a portrait painter to make a living and wanted to do something different with photography. I also knew that lighting with flash is a hit or miss proposition, as evidenced by the myriad adjustments used by the master, improvising from one moment to the next as he built step by step a complex lighting arrangement to create a unique effect. I thought it was enough to make camera adjustments, and it has taken me years to learn how to be familiar with the DSLR controls. But now I am seriously aiming at portrait photography and this was just what the doctor ordered! Really learned a lot.

IT was interesting to watch the moving of lights and the posing gestures of our model. Looks good here.

Question, which one or two photo stock agencies do you recommend?

If you bring your camera, you can shoot the lighting setup. This makes it easy for you to duplicate it elsewhere. I do this all the time because I am a rather forgetful fellow.

I also would like to do some portrait/modeling photographs. It has been too expensive for me to do personally, but I am thinking a group of CEB members could arrange something if this is just a demo? I notice there was no mention of members bringing a camera. If we had 10 people pay $10 we could rent a location, I have heard like $50 at the Graffiti Warehouse for instance, and we could probably find a model for $50 for maybe 2 hours.

You are welcome to organize a CEB photo shoot.

Trouble is I am not a good organizer, as they say "I am more of an idea man", I was hoping if I get the idea out there, some more would join in somehow and get the ball rolling, I know there are some good organizers at CEB.

Will we have an opportunity to shoot the various setups, or is this demo only?

    January 19, 2014

    • Bonnie S.

I think it is just demo but only Rolando can answer this question.
