Friday Night Crib Tournament $250 in Prizes. 7:00 Sharp Start Time

Update:  Due to the success of this fun evening, we are proud to announce that Jesters' is allowing our group complete access every Friday night instead of every second Friday.  "Thank you" to all who has made this a regular thing to do and I am honoured to host as so many of you are wonderful people and the friendship is wonderful.

If you are looking for a fun night of great people and great prizes, then this is the place for you.  We are averaging 40 crib players and would love to get this up to 50.  The $250 in prizes are awesome (usually something from Costco) and are donated by Castledowns Bingo and we have at least 9 winners.  Even last place wins :).  It's all meant to be fun at a great place with real people.

It's easy rules.  Register first name with me (Jeff) well prior to the 7:00 sharp start time.  We have seven games, all games against different opponents.  We play gentle rules so no extra points taken for points missed.  We want to keep this friendly. The player with the most wins gets first place.  There are prizes for second, third and last place, second last and third last.  There are door prize draws too and all for free.

Lot's of fun in a relaxed beautiful atmosphere.  Jesters' Lounge is owned and operated by charitites and has an exellent bar and food service, all at really good prices.  They are very kind to give us exclusivity to this facility every Friday.

The game starts at 7:00 pm sharp and sorry, no lates are allowed as we need to make up the teams and determine who plays who.  So if you can arrive a bit early, that would be great.

The event is free and the prizes are donated.  The lounge also has VLTs, good music, great security and is brand new (only a year old). There is free pool, darts and Wii u.  All oiler games are shown on the big screen.

Really hope everyone can make it and hope this becomes a regular every  Friday night out for all of us.  A great place to meet new people and the competiton is fun.

In case your not a great player, no problem.  We play easy rules that work best for beginners, and everyone is there for the fun.  Hope to see you.

Hi Everyone, Am thrilled that people are so thoughtful with ideas about the prizes, but the AGLC has very strict rules with respect to that. We simply can't charge in any manner to build up funds for tournament prizes. We can accept donations so if anyone has something cool to contribute, that would be wonderful. Otherwise, I really don't mind donating the prizes as it really helps this facility which is owned by the charities, and who are struggling. This Friday, I am going to get various prizes from Cineplex, Safeway and other suppliers. Many of them donate too which is so cool. I consider each and everyone of you that attend as a true friend and feel blessed to know such wonderful people. I think crib players are the most genuine people I have ever met and feel honoured to put this on. My dream is to have 40 to 50 people every Friday.

Upon further thought about entry fee suggestion. With 20 - 40 people attending each week that would be $100 - $200. Prize suggestions from myself would be gift cards eg: Bestbuy/The Keg/ Tim Hortons/ Petro Canada/Home Depot/AMA Gift Membership/ Ciniplex movie coupons. Gift cards could vary in dollar amounts and can be used for 1st/2nd/3rd prize etc.

good points by Don & Kyle. What if the $5 donation was used for a nice prize the next tournament. We used to get food vouchers to be used in the lounge. This kept the winnings in circulation as well.

We can't expect prizes to be donated forever. A trophy with the name plate of weekly winner would be fun. A small entry fee of $5 is ok by me? How about an early bird lunch special for members so lounge can earn decent income. Fewer prizes is better but the social fun loving aspect should remain.

Entry Fee comment: No problem with something like $5.00 max entry fee but don't want to see the prize(s) being a cash prize. Might bring in the wrong people to what I find is a fun and enjoyable evening.

Entry fee sounds okay to me but $5 max. That's my 2 cents worth but with the new rounding up or down I guess it's worth nothing. ha ha

My thoughts are charging some sort of entry fee for a prize. Perhaps less volumn of prizes as well and more like 1 st,2nd,3rd plus a conciliation prize for the worst. It can get a little watered down when almost everyone wins something. Just my 15-2 cents worth

Hi everyone .. I am looking for a partner for Saturday, April 26th, for a crib tournament in Stony Plain. My original partner is not able to make it. If anyone is interested, contact me and I will give you the details.
