RE: [Tulsa-Fantasy-Horror-and-Sci-Fi-Writers] New Meetup: Tulsa Fantasy, Horror, and Sci Fi Writers

Hi.  There was a choice between 'reply' and 'reply all', and regarding Pamala's note at the bottom of the page I wondered, being of an inquisitive nature...

So, I kind of hope EVERYONE on the list WILL get these message as Ms. Pamala predicted....

Thank you for take charge on such brief notice, Ms. Pamala!

Secondarily and why I hope this note goes out to the entire list.  Most of you do not know me at all unless you may have read a book or story I have written...the only name in fact that I recognized upon my joining in Sept was Brad Sinor.

But to my point:  I have been unable to so far attend a meeting because I unfortunately after being left in WA state by my wife, driven back here to Tulsa by my concerned children (adult age--concerned due to some brain injuries that disabled me with memory troubles awhile back for me to be virtually alone), lost my car for various reasons concerning my wife leaving etc. and have been unable to so far replace this decided inconvenience.  Therefore I have been unable to so far attend a meeting though I would like to.

Aside from my novels, short stories published in hardcover and paperback, I am currently revising and republishing the novels published under my own name and under my psuedonym, David Darke (not DRAKE...some author told me he did not like my psuedonym having a name so close in spelling to his own, and due to the dates of our publications, I was unable to try to sue him for name plaguarism...).

Especially this meeting:  I am hoping that although I have not kept copies of my query letters for my published novels that I remember them well enough and I also was given some tips on query letters (although of course this was back in the 1990's) by then editor Jeanne Cavelos of the Dell Abyss line (which Kelly Wilde of the line with a couple of books on it called Dull Abitch after Cavelos ticked him off significantly in editting his second Abyss book.  He's a good writer though not really in a style that I particularly appreciate (and so our once projected collaboration fell through), and received some good reviews, but due to his editorial reaction, no matter how fantastically cool and original his query (wondered what I was getting at, didn't you?) letters have been since, at least as of four or five years back, and I haven't seen anything published by him since we lost track of each other back then, he has been pretty much ignored by the publishing industry.  (Again, member Brad Sinor can attest to the veracity of at least most of this--thanks Brad....long time no see).

I.E., not only must your query letter have some kind of intriguing, interesting twist to it (which may be a character or the plot itself for fiction), but your letter to the editor and hopefully subsequent letters and conversations, must be extremely well written, engaging, informative, and perhaps most of all, POLITE.

End of sermon.

In the ghostly Scrooge like spirits of the oncoming season and in the hopes of getting to this coming meeting by either my own transport or by someone graciously offering me a ride to and from: "and to all a good night!"

BTW:  My home address is #216C, 1937 S. 68 E. Ave., near 21 and Sheridan, T-town.  Cell phone is 282-3588.  Home phone 794-6529.

2ndBTW:  I have decided to go ahead and resend this letter with delusions of novelette-hood on the REPLY all, just in case...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  May the turkey you devour not be an editor or book purchaser...
