St. Paul Chapter December Meeting

How Food Shelves Contribute to the Profits of the Pharmaceutical Industry: A Personal Exploration of the Costs of Getting Sick and Staying Alive after a Life Threatening Medical Diagnosis

Laura Hutt will present a personal observation on the costs of medical doctors, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment vendors, and health insurance based on her husband Steve’s recent experiences as a patient with a complex medical diagnosis. Laura has no experience in the field of healthcare; however, she will temper her observations with both current research and current investigative reports.

Laura has been a member of the Critical Thinking Steering Committee for 10 years. Although she is allowed to present occasionally, her main role is to take reservations, make name tags, and keep track of the silverware.

Breakfast Buffet $12.00 Coffee only $3.00.  We need to plan for the room setup and meal, so if you are going to attend, please RSVP.

Really good presentation, Laura. I liked how you wove the research you did with your personal experience. It was meaningful to get the financial and legal specifics of how the hospital, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries along with congress conspire to create a system that benefits them, and works against us.

Thought provoking. We have been discussing this subject off and on all day. Insurance makes gamblers of us all, and the house always wins.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
