St. Paul Chapter November Meetup

Do you know who you plan to vote for president on November 6, 2012? The election will be two days from our November 4th Critical Thinking Club meeting. It’s a great opportunity to apply our critical thinking skills as we review the candidates’ platforms on the economy, healthcare, education, and social issues. This will be a leaderless all table-talk session, so you may want to do some homework before you come.

To get you started, here are attached the names and if available a link to the platforms of all 10 presidential candidates who will appear on the Minnesota ballot. If you have supplemental information, please feel free to add it to the discussion on this Meet-up. The objective of this session is to practice making a political decision based on evidence NOT to campaign for a specific candidate.

Face it: we live in a 2-party mafiaocracy. The Media conspires with Republicrats to consolidate a 2-party dictatorship here in the US, and the public, unable or unwilling to imagine a better system, acquiesces to their own enslavement. Arguably, voting in such a system legitimizes the irredeemably corrupt system itself. (In fact, I would argue that voting in American democracy is therefore, in itself, inherently immoral; my own political philosophy is lotterism--randomly select representatives from the body politic so we have a truly demographically representative govt and ban all political parties.)

With all this said, I am planning on heading to the MN state capitol on November 5th to hold a candlelight vigil at 7:30 pm to protest the facade of representative govt that now has the US public in thrall. I suspect I will be alone on the steps of the capitol, but if any resolute souls see things as I see them and feel as I feel, I invite you to join me.
