    Film Description:

Look closely enough—at an apple, a tree, or your own life—and you will discover inspiration in everything.

Inquisitive, eccentric, and caring, Mi-ja (Yun Jung-hee) is a beautiful woman in her sixties who moves through life contemplating her trivial daily routine but seeking out everyday beauty. With strength and grace, she cares for an elderly stroke victim and raises her grandson alone. As Mi-ja is forced to confront the onset of her own Alzheimer ’s disease, she enrolls in a poetry class, and begins a personal quest for the words to express her own inexpressible feelings. The discovery of a heinous family crime will test the limits of her empathy and drive her to write her own life poem of devastating beauty.

'One of the heartening glories of the filmgoing year.'
    - Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribute

    'A life-sized movie about loss and self-discovery.'
    - Wesley Morris, Boston Globe

Acclaimed writer and director Lee Chang-dong followed up his celebrated film Secret Sunshine (2007) with Poetry (2010), the winner of multiple major awards, including Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival, and Best Film and Best Director at the Asian Film Awards.
