This is a group formed to bring attention to projects seeking funding through crowdfunding websites, especially Kickstarter, and those that were created by local Seattle-area people through crowdfunding websites.
We would like to encourage all who are looking to help fund some cool crowdfunding projects (no matter how small your contribution), who want to get cool stuff before it makes its way to store shelves (and a lot of stuff that is exclusive to Kickstarter backers!), and the people who have current/past/future Kickstarter projects.
At events, we will review some crowdfunding projects that are currently active on Kickstarter or another crowdfunding site and have an open conversation about projects that members may be thinking about posting on a crowdfunding site so that they can get some helpful guidance from other members. Expect a very interesting and informative conversation.
It is our goal to build a community to support each other and others in the community to achieve success with their creative projects. This support may be monetary or it may be advice -- both are equally valuable.
If you are a local project manager who has a project that is currently active on a crowdfunding site and would like to present your pitch to the group, please send the admins of the group an email prior to the Meetup with a brief project synopsis so we can approve and schedule you in.
If any future project managers would like to see what the group thinks about their projects before they are posted, please email the admins in advance of the Meetup so we can approve and schedule you in.
Presenters will have a limited time for presentations so that others will have an opportunity to present to the group. The main reason for creating this group is to review projects that are currently active so that those active projects -- run by people in our local community -- will be seen and possibly backed by members of the group, so active projects will be given priority over future projects. With minimum pledges for crowdfunding projects at only $1, it doesn't take much to help someone make their dream a reality.
The admins of the group, its organizers, and its hosts are all very excited about the great crowdfunding projects that are going on in our community. But as excited as they are, please know that they don't endorse any particular project, plan, or product you might encounter online or at this event, and in supporting the event, they're not giving you any legal, tax, or investment advice.
