Brisbane & City Hall Walk

About The Walk

Our walk will start at South Brisbane Railway station. Desley and I will go by train in one of the carriages towards the front of the  train that goes through Coomera at 9.10 AM (It leaves Varsity Lakes at 8.48 AM, Robina at 8.53 , Nerang 8.59, Helensvale 9.04) It arrives at South Brisbane at 10.02 AM, running express most of the way. (It's an air train)

We will walk down through South Bank Park lands then across the Goodwill bridge and onto the boardwalk that winds through the mangroves to the Botanic Gardens. We'll eat a Picnic lunch in the gardens (we will carry our lunches) before heading on up through Edward Street, then back along Queen Street Mall and up to the City Hall at King George Square. After our visit to City Hall we will walk to the Kurilpa Bridge then back along to South Brisbane station for the 4.00 pm train, maybe stopping on the way for a coffee.

The total walk distance is about 5 Klm of easy walking, pretty flat on well made paths.

About City Hall

Brisbane City Hall is a popular destination for visitors and residents looking for a unique cultural experience in the city.

The Museum of Brisbane showcases the living history of the city, examining how Brisbane and its people continue to change over time. It is located on Level 3 with spectacular views of the clock tower and copper dome.

We can take a ride up to the iconic City Hall clock tower which is open from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week. Entry is free.

Bookings for clock tower tours are not required, but we need to obtain tickets in person on the day  from the Museum counter on Level 3. There is a limit on the number of people who can ride in the lift. During peak times there may be a wait for these tours, so we can spend that time in the museum.

What to Bring

Your lunch, hat, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, water and a sense of adventure.

Another great day Henk & Desley! Very different, but very enjoyable as always. Natasha & I were the lucky ones to have you as our very knowledgeable Tour Guide through the Museum!

Great day. We stuck with the museum because it features the River and the city and follows on so neatly from the walk we did. Pleasantly surprised to see pictures of our old boat the MV Surprise taking pride of place.

A great walk on a perfect day, so interestingly planned in such a beautiful city and with top company too. Very impressed with City Hall, and I'll have to go again to see the amazing museum exhibits, which I only had time to glance at on our tour filled visit. Many thanks again Henk & Deslie for this 'fun' day
