This group is about being crunchy in the suburbs. We're all about supporting and learning from other crunchy parents. What this group is not about is judging other parents who aren't exactly like us in every way. Some cloth diaper; some don't. Some are fanatical about organic/clean/local food; some aren't. Some are birth junkies; some aren't. We welcome families who practice extended breastfeeding and those who were unable to breast feed. We don't address politics or religion; crunchy bridges those gaps, so let's just stick to parenting.
If you consider yourself crunchy (see below) and want to hang out with other friendly, crunchy parents, please join us.
The organizer of this group lives in Highlands Ranch, so many of our meetups are in the southern suburbs, though some are in Denver, for example at the zoo or Children's Museum.
One focus of our group is that we expect members to actually attend meetups to maintain membership. Members are expected to attend at least one meetup every 60 days to maintain membership. We have a wide variety of options, so something should be a good fit for your interests and schedule. We also ask that members plan at least one meetup a year.
We have a $5 annual membership fee, to cover meetup expenses. You're welcome to test out the group for 60 days to make sure it's a fit before paying dues. Please note that we do expect you to attend during this time. If financial hardship prevents you from paying dues, please let the organizer know.
What does "crunchy" mean? Here are some things crunchy parents might say:
A lot of effort goes into organizing our Meetup group. Please be courteous and make a reasonable effort to inform us if you are unable to attend an event that you have RSVPed Yes to.
Members with three no shows will be removed from the group.
What is considered a no show?
Not showing up when you are a “yes” RSVP
Changing your RSVP from “yes” to “no” less than 24 hours before an event (unless puking is involved. I mean, we're moms, we get it. Just be polite.)
Changing your RSVP at the last minute is unfair to other group members who would actually like to attend, and causes extra work for the organizer if we are meeting at a place that requires reservations.
