The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and Nature Preserve is located 25 miles northwest of Lawton, Oklahoma. Area B at Doris Campground is reserved for us, and it has clean water, showers and toilets. I have paid in advance for two nights in case people want to come up Friday PM, the 28th, which I plan to do. I understand that you can keep any rocks or crystals you find here. A geologist, Doug Schwarztenberger, plans to attend and guide us. He has collected rock specimens here several times. We will be hiking to key areas, not digging or hammering away at rock formations. The scenery and wildlife are supposed to be awesome, so start planning ahead and please come if you RSVP, so I can plan for the right number. -The total cost of Area was $28/night for the entire group, so we can split it per person. It can handle up to 30 people and has a covered pavilion. If you require electricity, area A & E at Doris Campground has electricity for $20.00 a night/site. You can also find nearby motels and cabins. *Bring good shoes, a backpack and at least 2 water containers for hiking. Bring your food and drinks. I have a camp stove.
