On Saturday, September 9th, the Riverside Arts District will feature an open studio/gallery walk. The event will feature:
• The Work Room, 2814 Race Street (a multi-functional space for working artists)
o Co-coordinators Kelly Belindo and Lori Thompson
o Artists Lauren Cross, Susanne Devich, and Elizabeth Scagel to show mixed media, sculpture, textile design, and photography
o Kelly Belindo and Mackenzie Willems to make bags and paint them for the public between 11 AM-3 PM
• Fringe Art Studio (holographic art), 2902 Race Street- Grand Opening
o Holographic (3-D) works from various artists throughout North America.
o Works from Art-Hunger founders Nick C. Kirk, Mike Moffatt, and John Worley, with other works by Debbie Pucek, Loretta Gonzalez, William Hall, and Andrea Nicolette Gonzales.
o Music performed by DJ Train, DJ Priest, and pianist Micha Goolsby
o Body painting by Andrea Nicolette Gonzales and Aston Evada of Salon Purple (evening hours only)
• Pop-up Gallery, 2902 Race Street
o Ceramics by Keith Thompson of the Firehouse Art Gallery
o Handmade Jewelry, Purses and other works by Kathleen Garza
o Paintings and wearable sculpture by Brad Demeurisse- Lost River Arts
• The Work Room, 2814 Race Street, outside (rear of building)
o Over 35 Local Arts and Crafts Vendors
The open studio/gallery walk is part of the embRACE the STREET Better Block, a demonstration project to help revitalize a community one block at a time! In addition to the artwork, the event will include art, food trucks, music, dozens of vendors, a temporary dog park, a community garden, temporary street trees/bike lanes and a drum circle.
