Flavours of Portugal - Foodie Adventure

Hello fellow adventurers!

Just a few weeks before our Ericeira Surf, Sun and Seafood Portuguese Adventure, and as the London summer seems to be taking its final turn; what better experience than a "trip" to the warm & tasty flavours of the Portuguese cuisine, right here in Central London?

Join us for this dining adventure at Estrela Restaurant, which is considered by many the best drinking & dining option in Stockwell (the “little Portuguese district” in London). Estrela restaurant is certainly one of the best places in London to experience the Portuguese cuisine at a very affordable price and an evening socialising in a truly Portuguese environment.

We have pre-ordered a fix set menu for £19.50 per person which includes a variety of Portuguese starters, a choice of 3 main courses including the traditional “Portuguese Cod Stew”, Sardines and the southern “Portuguese Pork Stew”. After the main course there will be a choice of 3 Portuguese desserts including our famous Egg and Caramel Pudding, the traditional northern Portugal Sweet Rice with Custard and Cinnamon, and our delicious Biscuit Cake (where the biscuits are soaked in coffee and covered in cream layer upon layer... one of the all times Portuguese favourites...). To push down the meal, the iconic Portuguese coffee shots will be served (or tea, if you prefer) together with a “little digestive Portuguese surprise” at the end of the meal! Drinks are not included in this price but you can get a bottle of Portuguese beer for £2.00 or a glass of Portuguese red/white for £2.30.

An admin fee of £3.00 to cover costs and expenses of running the group needs to be paid to confirm your attendance.

Join us there on Thursday 12th September at 7:30pm! It will be a great dinner! The best way to get there is: take the Victoria Line to Stockwell, turn left outside the station and just walk down South Lambeth Road[masked], London SW8 1UZ. I will be available from 7:15pm on the following number if you need to call[masked] 9024.

Looking forward to meet you there!

Thanks for a wonderful evening last night! It was really good company and the food was delicious. I had a wonderful time.
I know some of you were eager for my 'fish update' so I can tell you that I ate the sardines for lunch with some potatoes and peppers and at 4pm I feel fine :) In fact the sardines tasted delicious. I'm not so sure I would be keen to try them after 3 months but I can definitely recommend them for lunch the next day :)
Thanks once again for a lovely evening!

how come there's no bacalhao com natas ??

Bacalhau com Natas is one of my favorites. But it is one of those dishes that you should only eat on the places which are "specialists" on it. In Portugal you often go for certain restaurants because they have a dish of their expertise that you really like... But I woudn't take anyone to eat that dish on a place where i hadn't tried it before. We also had to commit to a closed menu, to accommodate as many people as we can. I also think the peppery / tomatish flavours of the Caldeirada de Bacalhau, represent better portuguese cuisine. But if you do like your cream, you should come along and try our Bolo de Bolacha! Come along! :)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
