Please join me for the Weymouth weekend, with breathtakingly beautiful, scenic walks and the annual Dorset Seafood Festival.
Weymouth harbour is the perfect backdrop to this tasty event. With over 80 stalls, mouth-watering seafood menus, celebrity chefs, Pommery champagne, local ales and a fabulous atmosphere, the festival also raises money for The Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.
We will be taking 7:12pm train from Clapham Junction, that arrives in Weymouth at 9:58pm. The Journey takes about 2 hours 46 minutes. We will be coming back on Sunday: 5:48pm – 8:40pm (2h 53 minutes).
Cost of the trip: early bird price of £130 if you pay in full by the end of May. If paid after this deadline the price will be £150.
The deposit of £50 needs to be paid to secure the place. You can pay this either via paypal or directly to my bank account, but if you choose the bank account option please make sure you email me to let me know you have done so (so that I can confirm you) and please follow the instructions on this page: http://www.adventureclub.biz/pages/Bank_account/.
The reminder of the money needs to be paid into my bank account by the end of June the latest and the instructions on how to do it are also here: http://www.adventureclub.biz/pages/Bank_account/.
What is included: two night’s accommodation in an exclusive to us hostel, return transport to Weymouth, two countryside walks, transport back to Weymouth after the Saturday’s walk on Saturday, bus to Portland on Sunday.
Plan of the trip
6:45pm meeting at Clapham Junction station.
7:12pm taking train to Weymouth
9:58pm arriving at Weymouth and checking in to our lovely hostel.
I will check closer to the date whether we can still find any food there at this time or whether we need to bring something with us. Either way we can pop out for a quick drink or hang out in the hostel, but we should have quite an early night to be bright and sparkly for our long walk on Saturday.
9am start subject to change. We will be walking to Lulworth cove and taking public transport back
This walk is perhaps the most beautiful on the whole of the coast path. There are some steep climbs up the chalk cliffs, but we will be rewarded with the stunning views of World Heritage Jurassic coast, including the Lulworth cove, St Oswalds Bay and Durdle Door. The view from the top of White Nothe is excellent, with Ringstead bay below.
On Saturday evening we will hang out in Weymouth.
Around 9am we will catch a bus to Portland and we will do a short walk around the island (around 3 hours). We should be back in Weymouth for 2pm the latest, which will give us a couple of hours to enjoy the seafood festival. If you would like to see the program, please follow this link: http://www.dorsetseafood.co.uk/pages.aspx/Stage_Programme.
I am planning to check out any free events and hopefully food stalls, so if you would like to book on any ticketed events please do so separately. But with more than 100 stalls selling both seafood and a range of associated goods I’m hoping for some really tasty and fresh food!
4:30pm we will start getting ready for our return trip, which will mean collecting the bags from the hostel and getting to the train station. Our train leaves at 5:48pm and arrives in Clapham Junction at 8:40pm (2h 53 minutes).
I have booked an entire hostel for our exclusive use and we have:
• 2 x single room (if you would like to book it, there is an extra charge of £30, this covers both nights)
• 1 x Twin attic room (extra charge of £25 each to cover both nights)
• 1 x 2 bed dorms (Bunk beds) (extra charge of £20 each to cover both nights)
• 2 x 4 bed dorms (bunk beds)
• 1 x 5 beds dorm (bunk beds)
The rooms are on first booked first served basis, so when you make your payment add this sum to the total amount and please post the comment that this has been taken and paid for in the comments section so that others can see when they are no longer available.
What do we get in the hostel:
• Bedding and linen is supplied.
• We have complimentary tea/coffee/sugar and bread for toast in the kitchen. You may wish to bring fresh milk with you as there will only be powdered milk
• Wi fi: Unfortunately some of the rooms do not have a wi fi signal, you will find the lounge/dining room areas are okay. The information you need to connect to the internet will be on a slip of paper in your room and displayed on the reception door.
• If you require a towel, there is a hire charge of £1.00 GBP (covers the length of your stay). Please leave it with your bedding in your room when you leave.
