CoveCon is a Film/Gaming Mini Convention in your own back yard! CoveCon features two tracks filling a total of twelve hours from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Saturday April 27th. CoveCon will take place at a residence at Lake Monticello in Fluvanna County and is open to two meetup groups, The Charlottesville Movie Fans Meetup Group and The Chartlottesville Gamers Guild.. The goal of CoveCon is to bring together local film/game enthusiasts.

CoveCon will make every attempt to work and feel like a large convention but in a shorter time and at no cost to you. One of the two tracks is the film track, 6 movies will be shown, each movie will be presented in 1080p HD using an Epson Home Cinema projector onto a 135" screen. If you never had the chance to see these movies in the theater or wish to get as close to that experience as possible again, then this is the track for you.

The theater room can accommodate up to 6 people comfortably. Each movie is first come first served and you may sign up for more than one. Sign up for STAR WARS in this thread.

The film schedule is...

Tron (1982) - 10 A.M. - 12 P.M.
Alien (1979) - 12 P.M. - 2 P.M.
Galaxy Quest (1999) - 2 P.M. - 4 P.M.
Serenity (2005) - 4 P.M. - 6 P.M.
Star Wars (1977) - 6 P.M. - 8 P.M.

Information about the gaming track can be found here...

Hello! CoveCon is this Saturday. Quick heads up to you movie-goers. The theater room has it's own AC unit. It can get cool in there at times. Please bring a sweat shirt just in case.

You ever see the "Star Wars Revisited" fan film by Adywan? I think it's the best version out there and he's currently making an Empire version.

    Check him out:

Star Wars Revisited is what the special editions should have been. I can bring it with me to CoveCon or I can get it to you sooner if you'd like to check it out (I'm over on Club Lane at Lake Monticello).

I tend to prefer the movies as close to the original as possible. But I am up for a viewing of 'revisited' whenever you are.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
