The third Friday of October is Cult Movie Night at Castle Blackmoor. This month, we explore haunted houses with Burnt Offerings and Legend Of Hell House. In Burnt Offerings (1976), the Rolf family takes a vacation at a large, decrepit neo-classical 1890s mansion in the California countryside. Will any of the Rolf family survive their vacation? Features scene-chewing performances by Karen Black, Oliver Reed, Burgess Meredith, and Bette Davis.

People who want to stay late will see Legend Of Hell House (1973). A team consisting of a physicist, his wife, a young female psychic, and the only survivor of the previous visit are sent to the notorious Belasco House, the "Mount Everest of haunted houses," to prove/disprove survival after death. Previous visitors have either been killed or gone mad, and it is up to the team to survive a full week in isolation, and solve the mystery of the Hell House. The screenplay was written by Richard Matheson based on his novel Hell House. Features Roddy McDowell as Physicist Lionel Barrett.
