I've really enjoyed the Sevenoaks area and decided to go for more next Sunday. We will be spinning those legs yet again. For starters, Biggin Hill. We won't go along the main road but a parallel and quieter one. Toy hill is the next killer and it will be no kids game. To test our strength, we will then cycle along a (different) stretch of Ide hill and to finish it all off Star Hill again (everyone agreed this was the icing on the cake of our last ride). It sounds scary but actually it will be fun! Oh, and for those of you who've missed it we'll pass along the beautiful Otford village again.
Start:We meet 8.45 am at London Bridge, inside the station next to the ticket office. We'll board the 9.13am service toward West Wickham from where the ride will start at 10am.
Route: If you can't beat them then join them, the hills that is. This looks as my new moto! Hills will come in our face all the time. The ride will be 48 miles long with 3900ft elevation. It will hurt particularly if like me, your fitness has been plummeted during the winter months. Yet, the feeling of achievement at the end of the ride will be priceless! PACE OF THE RIDE: I'm not good with hills so am usually the weakest link. Expect an average pace of 12mph as the hilly terrain slows us down. We will wait for the slower riders but this is not a ride for complete beginners or those wishing to experiment.
There won't be many railway stations en route if you need to bail out. Bare this in mind. At 16 miles you won't be far from Edenbridge and at 30 miles we'll go by Otford. Please bring a smart phone to assist you in case you want to leave the group.

ATTENDANCE: To minimise last minute cancellations and no show ups, you are kindly required to pay for your train ticket and Meet Up fares upon RSVP. For this ride, the price will be £ 8.

Stops: For this distance and terrain expect two snack stops en route, in addition to toilet/mechanical stops as needed. Please bring sufficient snacks to keep you going. The ride will last about 5 hours.
Lunch: There are pubs at mile 42 and 45, a few miles before we finish the ride. We could choose one for our lunch stop if people are keen to share a drink and a bite before we go back home.
What to bring: Please bring snacks and water to keep you going for 43 miles. Weatherproof gear, 2 spare inner tubes, a pump, a mobile phone and some cash. LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS...have I mentioned lights?? Also, a helmet is mandatory when you ride with us.
HEALTH & SAFETY: Cycling is fun and safe but no sporting activity is risk-free. To minimise such risk when you take part in our rides you will be expected to ride safely, wearing a helmet and abiding by the Highway Code. No red light jumping, unexpected turns or dangerous overtaking will be accepted. If we feel you are putting other group members at risk you will be asked to bail out immediately. Please note that you join us at your own risk and that by joining us on this trip you understand, accept and agree to take all the risks inherent and expected from cycling on the roads exempting myself and your fellow riders for any accident/injury you may sustain. This should be read as a clause of exemption of liability for all purposes
Return to London: We have 2 services per hour back to London. The journey lasts 32 minutes and I plan to be at the station by 4.30pm. Trains return to London Bridge and London Cannon Street.
Weather: During winter, I will lead rides with overcast skies but not with rain. Due to the ever changing British weather cancellation based on weather conditions may happen the day before the event. Please check our website on Saturday for a final update.
