I've listed this ride as intermediate to experienced because of distance not speed.
This is the longest ride I've scheduled yet. Because the Greenways follow creeks and streams, for the most part, there aren't many hills. Some of you have been on every section of this ride in earlier Meetups now I'm stringing them together for one longish ride.
Because of the length everyone who RSVP's should expect that we will stop at different points along the way to re-group. Remember, this is a group ride, no drops! You should also bring adequate water and a Cliff Bar or two wouldn't hurt :) I will bring tire patches and tools. You may, if you don't have one, want to buy a repair kit from your local bike shop.
There is one section of the Greenway under construction so we will need to exit for a couple of miles. The detour is on mostly residential streets and except for crossing Poole Rd and New Bern avenue we won't encounter any busy roads.
I have done this ride many times and my experience is a feeling of accomplishment at the end.
Don't worry about a fast paced ride. We will average under 15 mph. Greenways + group ride = slower pace is my experience.
Hope to see you there!
Update: After ride gathering at Sola Coffee Cafe 7705 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh, NC. Its about two miles from the trail head. Take Longstreet North to the light at Sawmill. Left turn to the intersection of Sawmill and Leadmine. Cross Leadmine and then right turn into the shopping center.
Street parking on Bent Creek. Arrow points at Greenway entrance.
Longstreet and Bent Creek are a few blocks off of Six Forks Rd near Celebration Plaza.
