MorningDelight Saturday

  • Jan 11, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Our MorningDelight ride will have us each working to our own level with plenty of time for peeping too. There are longer and shorter ride options to suit most of our peeps.  If you turn around, please let someone else know!

• Start Time: Ready to roll at 10:00am
• Ride Length: ~2 to 4 hours riding time
• Speed Range: ~12 to 18mph on the flats, everyone climbs at their own speed. Expect to string out since the ride includes peeps who ride different speeds. Buddy up with others riding your speed and watch each other so the caboose doesn't have to ride alone. Each ride will have REGROUP locations
• Safety: Safety is our #1 priority. Let's all help each other learn safe bike handling and group riding skills. If you have a question, ask another Peep. Please speak up if you see an unsafe situation on a Cycling Peeps ride or let Rose know so she can help.
• Cue Sheets: Cue sheets will be posted by the evening before each ride at the latest. There is a link to the map and the cue sheet below in the Ride section. If it's your first time with MapMyRide, plz sign up to be our friend to see each week's maps. You can also upload the map to your smart phone.

THIS WEEK • January 11, 2014
Distance:  35 miles
Ride: (map)(cue

We will start at the Santa Ana Center in Rio Rancho (NOT the Casino).  Please park in the cit lot across the street from the Star Center Entrance.

Our dear Peep, Kathy Thompson, has a treat in store for us this week.  She's created a new route, near and dear to her very own home front, and she wants to share with the rest of us.  This is a hilly route on the Westside of ABQ and Rio Rancho, so we'll be riding our own best speeds. For this reason make SURE you have your own cue sheet and be prepared to have the group string out a lot as we climb. Find a buddy riding your speed (she may be behind you) so that you have someone to ride with but be prepared to ride alone if it works out that way. In the winter we can't stop and wait much, or we can get chilled. This is a ride for stronger riders with some endurance under their belts and who want a challenge, but it won't be crazy hard. If it gets that way, head back early. Study the map before you ride so you have a clear idea of the route in your head.

Please make sure to bring plenty of water, and snack, and even gels to give you that extra little boost for climbing these rollers!

Any questions?  Please feel free to contact Rose McCamey at:  [masked] or[masked]-5234.

I am going to do Sunday instead, and maybe a little individual hill work on Saturday. Still don't want to overdo it. I'll be climbing soon enough!

All- I would love to do this ride; however, since I'm hosting the Rendezvous at my house, I feel I will need a few extra minutes to prepare for my Peep Guests. Its 38 miles from my home to the start and in Saturday afternoon traffic, it will take me an hour to get home. I think I will do a ride northward or head out thru the Canyon from my Casa. Thanks Kathy for your efforts! I'll try to make it to a future Rio Rancho ride. See you Ladies Saturday evening at my place!

Sorry for the late cancellation, but I'm still too sick for a long ride.

Thanks, Jan! I have been a bit grumpy (about my riding) since I put my liners and goo tubes in together. My bike feels like a tank. I hope to ride with you soon.

Hey Suzanne. There isn't anything around this area that is really hard like Iron Horse or the Crest road. You will be fine!

I clicked on the "cue" and did not get a link to the cue sheet. This ride seems a bit daunting to me, so I need that cue sheet- help!

I couldn't get "Map my Ride" to work so I sent a PDF document to Rose. If she is unable to post it, I will email. There are some hills Suzanne but I think you can do it.
